Madonna’s videos have always had as much cultural relevance as her music. So, maybe that’s why Tuesday she shared the stage with Psy, the Korean rapper whose viral video, “Gangnam Style,” rocketed him into a worldwide pop phenomenon.
The Material Girl surprised nearly 20,000 fans in New York’s Madison Square Garden when Psy walked onstage in a very Psy-esque red suit. The two then danced “Gangnam Style,” in a perfect mashup of old-school diva meets 21st century YouTube star. Psy’s self-parodying video has more than 700 million views.
According to the Associated Press, Psy flew all the way from Frankfurt, Germany Tuesday morning — a small hurdle to dance with the world’s best-selling female recording artist of all time.
Madonna rocked the Pepsi Center this October, but instead of bringing Psy, she brought a bit of controversy by playing with fake guns on stage. See photos from the concert above.
