The Grawlix sells “Those Who Can’t” comedy script to Amazon Studios (news)By John Wenzel | October 29th, 2012 | No Comments »
Denver comedy trio The Grawlix just keeps moving up in the world. Not only are its members — Adam Cayton-Holland, Andrew Orvedahl and Ben Roy — all rising and nationally-touring stand-ups, they’ve just sold a script to Amazon Studios.
It seems the online retailer is diving into the content-creation business, and they want to get in on the ground floor with a comedy pilot from the boys called “Those Who Can’t.”
The proposed show transposes the characters from their popular Grawlix web series on Funny or Die, directed by the Nix Bros., to a high school setting (the fictional Buchanan High, to be filmed in Denver) and will feature some familiar comedy names, both local and national.
Astute comedy fans, Facebook watchers and folks who have attended a Grawlix monthly live show at the Bug Theatre lately have noted some chatter about the show, including ongoing casting calls.
No other details about the pilot have been made public, but we’ve been chatting exclusively with the guys over the last couple weeks, so check back in with Reverb and The Denver Post soon for the full scoop.
