The recent engagement of Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger, Nickelback frontman (of course), was enough of a shock, but Lavigne and her future hubby are supposedly recording an album together, too.

And soon, fans, or at least people who can tolerate the two, can hear Lavigne cover the notorious Nickelback breakout single “How You Remind Me.”

Lavigne recently sang the band’s first hit for an upcoming movie, the anime film “One Piece Film Z.” It’s the 12th installment in a long line of the best-selling “One Piece” series. According to Anime News Network, Lavigne also covered Joan Jett’s “Bad Reputation” for the film.

The irony of the situation, besides the fact that anyone besides Rahm Emanuel would ever want to feature a Nickelback song in an anime film, is that Kroeger wrote the 2001 single about his woes with an ex-girlfriend.

The couple plans to release its album together sometime in early 2013.
