Rihanna will earn more than $8 million for pushing a buttonBy Kelsey Fowler | October 16th, 2012 | No Comments »
Rihanna is set to bank £5 million, totaling $8,064,500 in U.S. currency, to turn on the Christmas lights at at a London shopping center.
Setting aside the disturbing fact that for some reason it’s relevant to discuss Christmas lights in mid-October, Rihanna was chosen over other candidates, including the Spice Girls, for the Nov. 7 lighting ceremony at the Westfield complex, according to The Sun.
An estimated 20,000 people are expected to show up at the shopping center, located near the Olympic stadium from this summer, for the switch-flicking next month.
Myf Ryan, marketing manager of Westfield, confirmed they had reached out to the star, saying: “The Christmas light switch-on at Westfield Stratford City is one of the highlights of the festive calendar. This year we want to thank our loyal shoppers by giving them something they’ll never forget.”
Rihanna last turned on London Christmas lights in 2010 at Westfield, while the honor was bestowed upon Justin Bieber last year. Apparently she’s a pretty popular button pusher, and for all the right reasons.
