The Black keys to release new EP of rehearsal tapesBy Kelsey Fowler | October 10th, 2012 | No Comments »
Going after the niche “I’d love to hear how this song sounded in rehearsal” market, the Black Keys have released a six song EP recorded live during past studio sessioins
“Tour Rehearsal Tapes” includes songs that originally appeared on the group’s 2011 album “El Camino,” as well as two from the 2010 album “Brothers.” As of Tuesday, the EP is only available on iTunes for the first two weeks.
The Black Keys are looking to release their eighth studio album sometime next year. The group is currently set to kick off a world tour this Sunday in Mexico City.
Talking to Rolling Stone about the evolution of a Black Keys album, guitarist Dan Auerbach said they never really know when a new one will happen.
“We don’t talk about it. We don’t plan it,” he said. “We start recording, and then all of a sudden it starts to take shape and we have an idea.”
