Billy Corgan is becoming more synonymous with the word “smash” than one Mr. Hulk.
The Smashing Pumpkins bandleader is being sued after a eucalyptus tree on his Beverly Hills property fell on a neighbor’s home during a storm.
The tree crash victims are Eric Dane, of “Grey’s Anatomy” fame, and his wife Rebecca Gayheart. Documents filed at the L.A. County Superior Court say Gayheart, who was pregnant when the tree fell last year, was almost killed as she dodged live wires attempting to leave her flooding home.
Corgan called the situation unfortunate, saying Dane and Gayhart are “nice people.” He said to TMZ, “I was horrified when I learned about the tree falling during what was a massive storm, a storm with winds strong enough to uproot a 50 foot tree by its base! Thankfully no one was injured.”
The couple says Corgan had been warned about the potential for the tree to crash, and was not proactive about the removal. They are suing for unspecified damages resulting from “nuisance, negligence, and injunctive relief.”
