Skrillex will soon be terrifying young children as a Disney cartoon characterBy Kelsey Fowler | September 20th, 2012 | No Comments »
Skrillex is spinning a new role for himself — a cartoon — in the upcoming Disney film “Wreck-It Ralph.”
Set in a world of video games, the animated comedy brings together a plethora of famous game characters. Skrillex was already involved in the movie, creating original music for the score, but now he has screen time to call his own.
Producer Clark Spencer told Tolal Film that they approached Skrillex to have a cameo appearance as the DJ during a party scene and, “he was ecstatic.”
While it’s not a speaking role, Skrillex did take creative control for his cartoon self.
“We built his model, we put on his look, and we sent it to him to have him give us comments,” Spencer said. “He said, ‘My tennis shoes will always be black.’ So we changed the tennis shoes to black. You don’t see them in the film, as he’s behind the DJ booth, but they were in the model.”
