Mile Marker: Laura GibsonBy Reverb Staff | September 7th, 2012 | No Comments »
Laura Gibson came through Uneven Studio many months ago in the hours before her set at the Hi-Dive on South Broadway. We’ve been a fan of Gibson for a few years, and her performance during a Portland day party at the Grackle in East Austin was among our favorite moments of this year’s South by Southwest festival. Gibson is a delicate songwriter with a mastery of quiet-to-loud dynamics; lonesome without whine, pained while still sweet and beautiful. The four songs below are lush — “Skin, Warming Skin,” in particular — and they should be listened to with the intimacy of headphones, if possible. Stream or download the full session at your leisure, and let the folky sounds guide you from summer into fall as the days grow colder and darker.
