Karl Denson to play “Halloween Extravaganza” at the Ogden Theatre

Karl Denson will return to Colorado for the trillionth time this year (ok, maybe just the billionth) when his main band, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, plays its annual Halloween Extravaganza.

The jazz group’s 2011 spooky show at the Fillmore Auditorium (with Boulder alt-rockers Rose Hill Drive) was a flashback to the early ‘70s, performing an updated take on the Rolling Stones’ seminal album “Sticky Fingers” in its entirety. (This isn’t the first time KDTU has gone the cover route — the band paid tribute to the Beastie Boys at the Westword Music Showcase and Boulder Theater earlier this summer.)

No official word yet on the theme of the 2012 show at the Ogden Theatre (Oct. 31), though it’s worth noting that the always-on DJ Z-Trip will open the show.

Tickets, $32.50, are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday through axs.com.
