Swedish House Mafia announces plans to split after final tour this yearBy Reverb Staff | June 25th, 2012 | 1 Comment »
The mafia is no more. Dance trio Swedish House Mafia announced Sunday that the group will split up after finishing its (now final) tour later this year.
Formed in late 2008, the super studly Swedes Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso put a message on their website thanking fans for their support, saying: “Today we want to share with you, that the tour we are about to go on will be our last. We want to thank every single one of you that came with us on this journey. We came, we raved, we loved.”
The house group released its first and only studio album, “Until One,” in 2010. The three are currently on tour, with the last date so far listed as Nov. 24 at Friends Arena in Sweden. The final leg of journey, i.e. more dates, will be announced in August.
Last week, Ingrosso compared SHM to the Beatles, saying the groups shared a similar range in music, from melancholic to “sad and happy combined.”
