Lipgloss moving to Beauty Bar, Howling Hex at Lost Lake, Epilogues “Fallout,” more music newsBy Julio Enriquez | June 1st, 2012 | No Comments »
Don’t worry, Boyhollow (a.k.a. Michael Trundle) doesn’t need a hand moving the couch from La Rumba to Beauty Bar, however, a last hurrah will be had at 9th Ave on June 1. Relive the nights of debauchery and miscellaneous hookups one last night before things move over to 13th Ave. To celebrate the past 11 years of Lipgloss, the Junior Boys will hold it down on the 1′s and 2′s on June 29 over at the party’s new domicile, Beauty Bar. Boyhollow and option4 will continue to be the resident DJs with a steady pipeline of talent coming your way.
The Howling Hex Thursday night residency at Lost Lake
Drag City’s the Howling Hex will be holding it down for the good folks over at Lost Lake every Thursday in June. The Howling Hex is Neil Hagerty of Pussy Galore & Royal Trux fame and he will be joined by a familiar face in the Denver music scene, Apples in Stereo bassist Eric Allen. Don’t forget to tip your barkeep when ordering those Lost Lakes, ya’ hear!
Petals of Spain + the Lone Ranger
I have my reservations about any movie that carries the name “Jerry Bruckheimer,” but I might make the exception in the reboot of “The Lone Ranger,” scheduled to be released Memorial Day weekend 2013. You might notice something familiar with some of the cavalry soldiers — they bear a striking resemblance to some or all members of Petals of Spain. The band recently went down to New Mexico to appear as extras in the sure-to-be blockbuster, according to its Twitter feed.
The Epilogues “Fallout”
Just for the record, no blood was REALLY shed in the filming of the video for “The Fallout” by the Epilogues. Fans can expect the new “Cinematic” album from the quartet to drop very soon.
3OH!3 “Do or Die” + Red Rocks date w/ Silversun Pickups
In case you missed it, Reverb announced that 3OH!3 will be playing a massive Red Rocks show with Silversun Pickups, the Wombats and the Hives. 3OH!3 released a little taste of what’s to come with its dubsteppy track, “Do or Die,” taken off of the duo’s forthcoming album slated for release later this year.
The Amends want their $2 bucks (sort of)
The Republic of Boulder’s blues rock torch bearers, the Amends, have released their latest EP, “Signal,” for a ripe price of $2 bones. The four track EP will wet your whistle just long enough till a proper full length will see the light of day by the end of this summer. You can download the EP over here.
