“Glee” covers Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know”

Because the worst, most mind-numbing, claw-your-eyes-out song of the past 12 months really needed more exposure. Because producers of the smash TV show (which could easily be described with the aforementioned adjectives) knew the clip would instantly go viral. Because Americans love pop songs with semi-abrasive hooks (see “Barbie Girl,” “Tainted Love” and “Steal My Sunshine”). Here, for your personal torture and/or enjoyment, is a clip of the little jerks from “Glee” covering Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know.” Scoop via Pop & Hiss.

If you need a palette cleanser, listen to Elliott Smith’s song of the same name. Serenity now.

Everyone I know who has heard that song (the original) has loved it.  Mr. Hendrickson is probably one of those “I don’t like it because everyone else likes it” kind of music listeners…

Although I like the Gotye song, I agree with  John Hendrickson it has been played to death. As for Glee, it’s just ‘Kidz Bop’ for gay guys and fat girls.

yeah… I think thats a pretty good tune. Granted, I dont just watch it 75 times, but the 5 times I heard it… approved.  But – Glee sounds terrible, and I will skip that link.

I’ll bet John is someone who hates a band once more than three people have heard of them. That’s a great song, John. You’re hanging around so broadway too much.

Excellent song. Love how he sounds like sting in the choruses. Too bad for you.
