In the world of arena rock, few things change.

Some bands will always tour every other year or two, and many of those bands will do their best to stay true to the personalities and characters they defined decades ago. Aerosmith is one of those bands, and they’ll be touring the U.S. this summer — and the release announcing that tour is as silly as it is informative.

In announcing the dates — including an Aug. 1 date at the Pepsi Center in Denver — frontman Steven Tyler said: “The old Aerosmith is back with a new vengeance, and we will kick your ass and make out with yur (sic) mothers.”

Well, O.K. Sure you will, Steven.

Adds his bandmate Joe Perry in the release: “Can’t wait to bring this band back home. It feels like we’ve been away too long.”

It hardly gets bigger than Aerosmith, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-inducted band that has sold upwards of 150 million records. But with a frontman on “American Idol” and more than a decade since their last great record, they have a lot to prove.

Cheap Trick will open the Pepsi Center date, which will go on sale on March 31, according to the release from promoter Live Nation.

Of course these non-hypocrite greenies will put on a completely acoustical, un-amplified show that uses absolutely no electricity.
