Flashbulb Fires on Omaha political commercial
In case you missed it, music from Flashbulb Fires was used on a political commercial in Omaha. Why aren’t Denver council members using Snake Rattle Rattle Snake in this political year? Those are the hard nose questions I want answered this campaign season!
The Dirty Femmes to “Blister in the Sun” at Hi-Dive
“Let me go on, big hands I know you’re the one,” are some of the first lyrics I learned as a Violent Femmes fan. Xylophones were never the same after them, and the only reason I learned about the Femmes is because this girl two years older than me in high school put them on a mixtape that I wish had kept. Jen Korte (Jenn Korte & the Loss), Paul McDaniel (Jen Korte & the Loss, Opie Gone Bad) and Neil Mitchell (Raven and the Writing Desk, Champagne Charlie) are forming the Dirty Femmes to pay homage to the geeky alternative godfathers. Reverb’s
Eryc Eyl DJ Savior Breath will be on the 1’s and 2’s spinning some of the best/obscure ’80s tunes on April 7 at Hi-Dive .

Gathering of the Clouds is this week
It’s not one, two, but three days of music in the CI-TAY! The Overcasters will be presiding over the gathering in support of their latest rocking album, “Curses/Prayers,” produced by Rick Parker (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club/Dandy Warhols). The three day gig is a good sampling of the city’s musical talent in one of the misused venues (City Hall) that Denver has to offer. Get more information or tickets here.
