The Beach Boys’ performance at last week’s Grammy Awards went better than expected. The band wasn’t quite Sly Stone-weird, but it wasn’t as cohesive as its ’60s heyday, either.
Now, it’s time for the big reunion tour — with frontman Brian Wilson back on the keys and vox for the first time in more than 20 years. And yes, good readers, there is a Denver date in the works.
The Beach Boys will headline Red Rocks Amphitheatre on July 9, according to the band’s website — which redirects to industry tour site pollstar.com.
In addition to playing some of the country’s most storied venues — including the Hollywood Bowl and the Greek Theatre in Berkeley — the reunited band will also play big slots at Bonnaroo and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
Update: Tickets, $39.50-$79.50, will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday (May 4, 2012) via Ticketmaster.
