Talk Talk: Denver Band Merch Bazaar this weekend, The Fray heads down under, listen to new Bad Weather California, more music newsBy Julio Enriquez | December 2nd, 2011 | 3 comments
New Kevin Costner Suicide Pact
The hazy tranquility spell that the music from the Kevin Costner Suicide Pact casts is reminiscent of my Ambien-infused nights that result in a string of lucid dreams. The KCSP has released what appears to be a hypnotizing new EP entitled “Standstill” that you can listen to over here. Catch them opening up for Gauntlet Hair on NYE at the Larimer Lounge.
So … who’s ready to hit up the Denver Band Merch Bazaar?
It’s kind of like the Denver Swap Meet got drunk with Twist & Shout and had a baby. We’ll call this baby the Denver Band Merch Bazaar and it’s all going down this coming weekend, December 3 and 4 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. over at multi-purpose spot, Unit E (1201 Santa Fe Denver, 80204). Music fans can expect rare posters and LPs from local acts ranging from DeVotchKa to Danielle Ate the Sandwich. Liquid libations will be had (donations to help fund Unit E), so come on by and support the local music community.
Get your first taste of Bad Weather California’s “Sunkissed” and be in their first video
Bad Weather California is fresh off of playing a star-studded local affair opening for Nathaniel Rateliff last week (read the Reverb review here). Reverb reported news that BWC will have a new album for fans early next year via Akron Family’s Family Tree Records. Take a listen to the hip-swaying single, “You’re My Friend,” from the forthcoming album “Sunkissed” available Feb. 21. Listen here.
The guys also want fans to participate and be apart of their first video from the album. The Brass Tree Session folks will be directing the new video and want “a killer house party vibe.” The fun starts December 5 from 6PM-9PM at the Brass Tree house on 106 W. Irvington. Attendees can get all the deets here.
TheHundred came out in hundreds last month
Reverb had a chance to catch up with TheHundred founder, Brennen Bryarly (aka Option4), early in November (read the interview here). TheHundred plans on having a monthly party that will bring all the cool kids from the yard. Check out the action below if you missed November’s party. Stay tuned for news on future parties.
The Fray heads down under for “X Factor Australia”
Next year will be a big one for the Fray as the boys release their new album, “Scars and Stories,” but it almost seems like with all of their TV appearances that the album has been out for several months and work on the follow-up may even be underway.
