Live review: Tycho, Emancipator @ Summit Music HallBy Sam DeLeo | November 21st, 2011 | 1 Comment »
Tycho, a.k.a. Scott Hansen, played a live set with his band to a capacity crowd Saturday night at Summit Music Hall, drawing from albums like “Sunrise Projector,” “Past is Prologue” and 2011’s “Dive.” The show, including Friday’s Fort Collins date, marked Tycho’s first performances in Colorado, which led some to believe he might be the bill’s headliner. That slot went to Emancipator, and the Portland-based DJ/producer did not disappoint, piling layer upon layer of synth sounds and beats until almost everyone in the room was dancing. D.V.S. opened things up to a crowd still trickling in to the venue, but his guitar-based music, if a little repetitive, set the tone for the aural and visual display to follow.
