The 2011 incarnation of the Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival made its Denver stop at Comfort Dental Amphitheatre on Wednesday. After Escape the Fate wrapped up its set as the main stage opener, KBPI’s, Willy B took the stage, pumping up the crowd. He then introduced a different entertainment of sorts: Sullen Art Collective’s Miss Uproar 2011, in which seven scantily-clad contestants “competed” for the title of Sullen Angel. The 20-minute contest was complete with runway struts across the stage, an interview question for each contestant, and a whittling down from semi-finalists to the grand prize winner. None of the contestants seemed to take their interview question seriously, which ultimately didn’t matter. This was no Miss America pageant, after all, but an entertaining way to distract the crowd, which waited in anticipation for Bullet for My Valentine to propel the venue to full Uproar mode.
