Mile Marker: Alberta Cross

Alberta Cross played Denver twice during summer 2011 — once at the Larimer Lounge in early June and once at the Bluebird Theater in early September. The London rock group calls ATO records home in the states, and they fit right in with fellow ATO Americana acts My Morning Jacket, Dawes and Drive-By Truckers. But how, exactly, can a British band be considered Americana? Give a listen to the shuffling pat-pat brushes on “Lay Down” or the bluesy two-step of “Old Man Chicago” — you’ll understand. So go ahead, stream or download the stripped down versions of three live songs from their day in Uneven Studio below, and come back next week for more.
