Sometimes all you need is a single song to understand an artist’s importance. “Look at Miss Ohio” is that for alt-country folkie Gillian Welch, who plays the Arvada Center tonight.

At this year’s Telluride Bluegrass Festival, “Miss Ohio” was covered by at least three or four bands — if not five or six, including the make-shift fiddle outfits playing on street corners and down by the river. Is there more to Welch and her impressive, atmospheric catalog? Absolutely. But this is a great place to start.
