Mile Marker: Head For The HillsBy John Hendrickson | March 4th, 2011 | 1 Comment »
We had hoped to get Head For The Hills into the studio many months ago as the Mile Marker series was first taking shape, though logistics kept the guys out of our reach until early January. The young bluegrass quartet calls Fort Collins home — one of several bands aiding in the proliferation of the northern Colorado music scene. These six songs feel a little edgier, a little darker and a little more lonesome than the standard bluegrass most listeners are used to. It’s a fresh take on a genre built on tradition, and the warm upright bass sits nicely beneath the shredding mandolin and fiddle for a dynamic session. Help yourself to these six free tracks.
