News: The Fray to open for U2 at Invesco next yearBy Ricardo Baca | October 4th, 2010 | No Comments »
Denver-rooted pop stars the Fray will open for U2 at the band’s rescheduled date at Invesco Field next year, promoter Live Nation announced this morning.
U2 postponed some U.S. shows earlier this year when singer Bono injured his back in rehearsals, and Denver was among those postponed. The band will make up the date on May 21, 2011 at Invesco Field with the Fray in lead support.
The two bands have played together before. A few months ago, the Fray opened for U2 on an Oakland-Seattle-Edmonton swing. And U2 employed another Denver pop act — OneRepublic — to open some of its European shows earlier this year. Tickets for the Irish group’s 2011 Denver date, $38.95-$276.55, are still available at Ticketmaster.
