Here at Reverb we cover so many local bands that it’s hard to keep track of them sometimes. Not Rabbit is a Sphere. The indie rock quartet, which recently played its (supposedly) last-ever show at our Underground Music Showcase last month, has always stood out from the pack with a distinctive sound, lyrical wit and, dare we say, snappy, fetching stage presence.
We also can’t think of any other Denver band that’s ever given away its entire catalog online. For free. That’s right — RIAS is posthumously bequeathing its musical estate to you, the fans, along with a live show (recorded straight to the soundboard) and all of its funny, intelligent, heartbreaking lyrics.
Get started here, and read the full text of the announcement after the jump.
as you may have heard, rabbit is a sphere has posted our entire discography on line, available as free downloads.
we unearthed a live show that was recorded at the walnut room that we fancied, and we are writing you now to let you know that we have posted it to the site as well, for your perusal and possible enjoyment. the show was recorded as a straight board feed, and whereas it ain’t live at budokon, it sounds good enough that we’d like to share it. it features a couple of songs that we never put down to tape in any official capacity, thereby expanding our oeuvre.
but wait, there’s more. we have also posted all of our lyrics on the site. lyrics for our full length and our two ep’s can be viewed on the site or downloaded and viewed at your leisure. our lyrics helped to drive our jumbled aesthetic, and there is no greater way to acquaint yourself with what rabbit is a sphere is all about than to look at one person traveling down a street with a poem turning a corner and running face first into someone carrying a three chord riff and a heavy rhythm. it is what we do. you can read about it whilst you listen to the ditties.
you can find all of the above noted wonders at http://www.doubleg.tv/rias/
again, and we can’t say this enough, thank you so much for supporting us through the years. now, go see some local music. like tauntaun and alan alda and ian cooke at the bluebird this friday, or gangcharger at the meadowlark on saturday, or lion sized at the hi-dive the same damn night.
see you at the races!
