Prog-rock jammers Umphrey’s McGee returned to Colorado on Friday for an explosive headlining show at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Balancing the weekend with an intimate Saturday show at the Chautauqua Auditorium in Boulder, the 15-year veterans of the jam scene opted to bring a metal-heavy spectacle to the rocks—pyrotechnics and AC/DC covers included.

Prog-rock powerhouse Umphrey’s McGee headlined Red Rocks Amphitheatre for the third time in its career on Friday night. Announcing prior to the show that the performance would be filmed for a DVD release, the band made it very clear that this would be a performance not soon forgotten by its vast network of fans.

After two intimate performances for ambitious fans at the Belly Up in Aspen, the progressive jammers capped off their three-night Colorado run Friday night in front of a sold-out crowd at the Fillmore Auditorium.
