STS9 blasts off for 20th Red Rocks show

In the storied history of Red Rocks Amphitheatre, the list of acts to play the venue twenty times is short. There is Widespread Panic (legends with over 50 performances), Blues Traveler (kings of the Fourth of July since 1993), and, as of Saturday night, STS9, an electronic jamband with minimal mainstream success but one of the most dedicated fanbases in the country.

Capping off an unprecedented five-night Colorado run that included a stop in Telluride and two intimate shows at the Belly Up in Aspen, STS9 lit up a sold-out Fillmore Auditorium in Denver Saturday night.

Sound Tribe Sector 9 (STS9) kicked off a two-night run at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Friday. Early this year, bassist and founding member David Murphy left the band, causing STS9 to postpone a number of shows, including four Colorado dates.
