Album review: Weezer, “Everything Will Be Alright in The End”
Let’s get right to the point: The new Weezer album does not suck. Actually, it’s pretty good. And Rivers Cuomo, is sorry, OK? In an apology that seems part sincere and part tongue-in-cheek, he sings, “Sorry guys, I didn’t realize that I needed you so much / I thought I’d get a new audience, I forgot that disco sucks / I ended up with nobody and I started feeling dumb / Maybe I should play the lead guitar and Pat should play the drums.” That’s “Back to the Shack,” the first single and second song of “Everything Will Be Alright In the End.” The band promises to rock out like it’s ‘94 and turn off the stupid singing shows in a song that has the pseudo-anthem feel of “Beverly Hills,” not to mention the ability to get stuck in your head -- sometimes against your will.
