Railroad Earth bring Nershi along for top shelf make-up show (night one)

Railroad Earth was forced to postpone last month’s show due to an illness, so when they rolled into the first of a two-night stint at The Fillmore Auditorium on Friday, it was clear fans were ready to start “chasin a rainbow.” Opening with “Happy Song,” the band quickly led fans into “420” and “Storms.” The breath and depth the band explores in every song makes it impossible to classify their sound as bluegrass, newgrass or some kind of funk infused awesomeness.

Warming up for its big headlining spot at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Railroad Earth played a sold out show at the Boulder Theater on Saturday. The following night, the Americana bluegrass band moved shop to the legendary mountain venue for a nearly four-hour show.
