As Labor Day weekend came to a close on Monday night, OneRepublic was hard at work. During the band’s third Red Rocks Amphitheatre show this summer, the local boys weren’t only performing for 9,000 fans, but filming the new music video for “I Lived.” The night also marked OneRepublic bringing its last few months full circle. After opening its Native Summer Tour at Red Rocks...

The weather was far more forgiving as Atmosphere returned to Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Friday. The band headlined the legendary mountain amphitheater in 2012 for the inaugural Winter on the Rocks. This time, however, the hip-hop duo got a summer headlining spot in the foothills. On May 6, Atmosphere released its eighth studio album, “Southsiders,” its first release since 2011. See photos...

PHOTOS: Phish at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park day three review |Check It >>

Phish played a tight, predictable second frame Sunday at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, wrapping up its fourth three-night stand on the Commerce City pitch with expected plays that roamed in unanticipated directions. The super rare “Curtain With” opener hinted that the band might be feisty and ready to dig up some treasures from its vast quiver. The unhurried “Wombat” follower – with its syrupy...

Amid a swirling wind of manure, marijuana and rain, Phish found greatness on Colorado’s plains Saturday with a show for the ages. Dick’s Sporting Goods Park = Phish’s home. In a sprawling exercise under threatening skies, the Vermont fourtop shone a thousand different ways on Saturday. It was bombastic, from the first frame’s disco “Moma Dance” through an all-time “Carini” to the merry...

Phish’s fourth Labor Day weekend at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park saw the Vermont quartet continue its first-night roguery. In a throttling first set Friday, the 31-year-old band spelled out the title of a long-lost song using first letter of each song. It was an old trick. But the way the band dug deep to craft their acrostic fun was refreshing. The often intelligible and uncommon “Llama”...

After opening its Native Summer Tour at Red Rocks in May, it closed the tour at the same venue — a poetic gesture from the Colorado native band.

Earth Wind and Fire @ Red Rocks

Before winning Grammy awards and a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, singer Philip Bailey remembers traveling to Aspen to play covers of Sly and the Family Stone, Bread and Three Dog Night for the locals and summer vacationers.

“I was right out of high school and playing Latin percussion, like congas and stuff, and we’d spend a few weeks living in a house up there each year,” the 63-year-old Denver native said over the phone this week. “It brings back a lot of memories being there, and I can’t wait to show the guys in the band how beautiful it is since I always brag about it.”

That band, of course, is Bailey’s longtime squeeze of Earth, Wind & Fire, just one of the acts playing this weekend’s JAS Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience.

Phish - Day 2 @ Dick's Sporting Goods Park

Phish returns to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park this weekend for a fourth Labor Day run, stepping into a venue that has emerged as a celebrated turning point in the Vermont quartet’s storied history.

Who would have thought that the Commerce City soccer stadium would become the stuff of Phish legend? And that legend runs deep in Colorado, where the band first wandered between Telluride bars in 1988.

Phish’s 26-year history in Colorado has culminated with its trio of Dick’s stands, displaying the band’s engrossing, unpredictable frivolity and humor alongside the exploratory grooves that keep fans frenzied. Yes, the magical McNichols Arena shows in November 1997 were overwhelming odysseys into the deepest funk, but Dick’s commands more space on the band’s Colorado trophy shelf.
