Mile Marker (UMS edition): El Ten Eleven

Editor’s note: All month long we’re inviting artists into Uneven Studio to record Mile Markers in advance of their appearance at this year’s Underground Music Showcase, July 21-24 on South Broadway in Denver.

Listening to the steady grooves of El Ten Eleven can be deceiving. A seemingly indie-rock symphony bounces from left to right in your headphones — though each and every sound is produced by the modest duo of Kristian Dunn and Tim Fogerty. Through a mix of loops, effects, samples, a double guitar and a host of other instruments, a nuanced, textured sound emerges from nothing more than eight limbs. A few of us caught the end of their set in Lawrence, Kan. before a garage rock festival last October, and we’ll be packed in early to watch them headline the first night of the UMS on July 21. Watch the video above and stream/download the songs below — then come join us at the fest.

El Ten Eleven plays the Hi-Dive at 11:55 p.m. on Thursday, July 21 as part of The 11th annual UMS. Click here to view the full line-up and buy tickets — $40 for a four-day wristband.

right on!  saw them at the ums a couple of years ago and at the time, they were new to me.  dig this band!  It’s impressive when an instrumental band with two people can keep your attention.  very creative melodies going on.  Thanks for the downloads and the little vid clip from Foo’s place.
