Talk Talk: Flashlights get signed, Tennis sets sail (again), Vices I Admire hit TV and Carmelo in drag on SNL

Flashlights has been a permanent fixture in the local music scene paying their dues for the past year, and record label Binary has taken notice. So much, in fact, that they signed the duo and plan on releasing their EP, “Hidden Behind Trees,” in early June. You can catch Flashlights playing with Candy Claws April 14 over at the Larimer Lounge.

Tennis sets sail, again

Tennis released their debut album, “Cape Dory,” earlier this year and will be touring on and off for a while. New inspiration will be required for the next record, thus Alaina Moore and Patrick Riley have skipped town for another sailing trip. You can read about it on their blog, “White Satin Gloves,” over here and check out their new official video for “Take Me Somewhere” below. Reverb caught up with Moore recently and you can read that interview here.

Night of Joy and Lust-Cats of the Gutter get busy

Girls Get Busy has taken not one, but two Denver rock bands as part of their “Chixtape #1″ compilation. Night of Joy and Lust-Cats of the Gutters are a couple of girl-centric shredding bands that are highlighted on the mix. The tape is extremely limited (50 is what we’re hearing), but you can cop yours over here.

Vices I Admire are getting, uh…admired

Vices I Admire are finding new ways to get exposed. See, it’s really easy. Get your music licensed by some big time cable channels and the rest will follow. Fans can look out for their music to be on MTV’s “The Real World” and Oxygen’s “The Bad Girls Club.” The spots don’t end there, because Showtime has also jumped on board by placing their music in “The Real L Word.” In due time, they’ll be able to quit their square jobs. Congrats, dewds!

Carmelo Carmela Anthony on SNL

Get Schooled! Benefit ::: George Washington High School ::: 11.19.10

You’d be hard pressed to find any Nuggets fan to buy Carmelo Anthony a ticket back to Denver, however, the one time Nugget made his “Saturday Night Live” debut last week, and we were all watching. In drag, no less. Not to be a hater, but I kind of get all giggly when I see the New York Knicks on the losing side of a game. (Photo via: Julio Enriquez)
