It was only a matter of time. Denver-based DJ/producer Derek Vincent Smith, who rocks parties under the name Pretty Lights, is ready for a bigger stage.
Pretty Lights, who completes his five-night, sold-out Colorado theater run tonight and Saturday with shows at the Gothic and Ogden theaters, respectively, will headline a date at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in August.
Smith, who recently relocated from Fort Collins to Denver, will headline Red Rocks on Aug. 7, The Denver Post has learned. It should be a banger of a party, considering that Pretty Lights sold out his five theater dates — equal to more than 5,000 tickets — in less than three days. Red Rocks’ capacity checks in at just under 10,000.
Other shows on the cusp of being announced:
Norah Jones and Corinne Bailey Rae will soon announce their own August date at Red Rocks.
R&B/hip-hop sensation Drake also has an Ogden Theatre date n May 17.
