Photo essay: Zac Brown Band @ World Arena

Zac Brown and his band brought the house to its feet at Colorado Springs’ World Arena on Friday. Photo by Denise Chambers.

If you’d asked me three days ago what kind of music I listened to my response would have been “pretty much everything except country.” Taking part in the Zac Brown Band “experience” on Friday night at Colorado Springs’ World Arena has made me reevaluate.

The three-plus hours of fantastic entertainment started with a showcase of artists signed to Brown’s label — Levi Lowrey, Sonia Leigh and Nic Cowen — and ended with an amazing set by Brown’s band. Their cover of “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” gave me goosebumps, though the crowd favorite was definitely “Chicken Fried,” which brought just about the entire arena to its feet. Possibly the largest cheer came when Brown introduced new song “Colder Weather,” which he said was his favorite thing the band had written so far — and was about Colorado. – Denise Chambers

Glad you enjoyed the show, Denise! Surprised you, didn't it? This was our third show this tour. Drove in from KC for this one. Nice pics, really love the one of Chris Fryar. It's so hard to get him without a stick or a cymbal in front of his face. Great pic of John Hopkins on the bass as well. The only thing missing was a pic of Massif doing the final song! Thanks for sharing. Wish I could copy some of these to add to my own collection of ZBB photos. Is there a way I can do so?

Thanks so much. It was a fantastic night. I think I got lucky with the shot of Chris Fryar. I would have loved to get a shot of Massif but I was only permitted the first three songs of the set. Regarding photos for your collection, shoot me an email, denise@denisechambers.com.
