Few venues in central Denver can hold a candle to the under-the-stars beauty and bring-your-own-wine aesthetic of the Denver Botanic Gardens concert series. Fans can expect some changes in this coming season, most notably the new sound system that will deliver the music to the masses. Fans might not notice, but the Gardens switched talent buying teams in the off-season — from Nobody in Particular Presents, which has helmed the series for many years, to Swallow Hill Music.

Andrea Ball’s packed CD release party at the Hi-Dive on Friday was a testament to the buzz the Denver songwriter has lately generated. And with good reason — Ball’s debut full-length, “Dial Tone,” is a leap forward in both songwriting and playing, and Ball recently returned from a well-received stint at South by Southwest.
