The Fillmore’s wide stage was an appropriate place for Rob Zombie’s larger-than-life persona and stage show on Friday. Photos by Tina Hagerling.
As anyone who’s seen him live before knows, Rob Zombie knows how to put on a show. Metal’s resident horror junkie walked onto the Fillmore’s stage Friday evening with his trademark skeleton mask, cowboy hat and dreadlocked hair and quickly erupted into an over-the-top stage show that was exactly what we’d expect from him. Clips from Zombie’s movie ventures, “El Superbeasto” and “House of 1000 Corpses,” flashed across the multiple monitors and screens while Zombie and his band played through a set list that included all the crowd favorites. The venue was packed and pit was alive and well. In fact, if a few people aren’t nursing wounds after all the mayhem, I’d be surprised. – Tina Hagerling
