I agree that they shouldn't have had three opening bands. As a Fanson myself, I know for a fact that we show up specifically for Hanson. However, as a music major, I am always open to new tunes, and gave Sherwood and Steel Train a listen before going to this concert. I had already been a fan of Hellogoodbye for many years at this point and had seen them numerous times before. Sherwood put on a great set and I sang the songs I knew. Steel Train should have gone on first, though. The only thing exciting about their set was their partial cover of "Mamma Mia!". Hellogoodbye was completely unbearable; they lost a bet the night before to Sherwood, agreeing they would talk about them throughout the entire set. Forrest, the vocalist and guitarist, could FEEL the crowd's impatience, and purposely slowed down the end of nearly every song. It annoyed the crowd to no end, and, to fans like me, annoyed me because I just wanted to sing the lyrics and move on with my life. Hanson played a short setlist because of piano problems prior to their set, which was disappointing. They also failed to play the song that had won the setlist voting for Denver's show, stating afterwards that "We forgot" (according to Isaac and Zac), and, "The cosmos just wouldn't allow it" according to Taylor. The crowd was already peeved by the time the boys took the stage, and I could feel that they weren't that into it. It was a very pathetic crowd, I'd have to say. I was also disappointed that it didn't sell out, because they sold out the show at the Bluebird last year. But the Ogden is also considerably larger... the balcony shouldn't have been closed because I had friends who's mothers needed a stool to sit on for the show. I still took advantage of all four bands and got my money's worth. Hanson put on an impressive show, as always. I would highly recommend to anyone who is interested to check them out on their 2010 summer tour.
