Savoy’s young, wily crowd didn’t mind waiting around for their band on Saturday at the Fox Theatre. Photos by Brittany Moore.

A young, apparently nocturnal crowd descended on Boulder’s Fox Theatre on Saturday, not seeming to mind that the headliners Savoy didn’t hit the stage until midnight. The crowd glowed, half of them in their eurotrash costumes for a contest gone awry while the other half dressed hipster-hippie, with shirts ranging from neon to brown — and many sunglasses. Opener Dominic Lalli was electric on the saxophone while recording and mixing it live on stage.

He struck a more figure than Savoy, although Savoy grabbed the audience immediately by sampling “Money for Nothing” by Dire Straights before dropping into their original stitches. The choreographed light show through both acts enhanced the intensity with its flashing, spinning, popping and ever-shifting spectacle. Savoy added much smoke, muddling the light show a bit. Overall, a dance party for the new generation. –

On a side note, it was a generation much like its predecessors. There were issues with under aged kid(s) stealing the 21+ wristbands, causing a commotion when bouncers had to walk around the crowd and change out the real wristbands to another color. – Brittany Moore
