Photo essay: Mute Math @ the Ogden Theatre

For all their stage antics, New Orleans-based Mute Math still puts on an impressively solid show. Photos by Tina Hagerling.

The boys from Mute Math are a hyper bunch. Between the jumps, flips and bass drum crowd-surfing, the New Orleans rock band give an audience their money’s worth, and Wednesday’s performance at the Ogden was no exception.

Antics aside, Mute Math do play a solid show. A near two-hour set put their musical chops on display with a line up that included “Chaos,” “Stare at the Sun,” “Armistice” and, of course, “Typical.” Throughout the night, each of the band members took turns grabbing a pair of drums sticks or mallet and proceeded to pound out the rhythm on whatever surface was closest by. If the waving arms and bouncing bodies were any indication, the crowd appeared to eat up ever beat. – Tina Hagerling
