Los Lonely Boys @ the Ogden Theatre

Los Lonely Boys brought the dancers down to the front of the Ogden Theatre during their Monday set. Photos by Brian Carney.

Grammy-winning Tex-Mex trio Los Lonely Boys stopped by the Ogden Theatre on Monday, and Reverb photographer Brian Carney checked in with this update and photo essay:

Super loud, but killer tight. Amazing that three guys can sound this incredible. Henry Garza on lead guitar is way talented. It’s like he does lead and rhythm at the same time. JoJo Garza plays a six-string bass guitar and is just amazing to watch, and Ringo Garza is a powerhouse on drums. They say their influences are Richie Valens, Chuck Berry, Santana, Freddie King, Johnny Winter and the Vaughan Brothers. I can see the Johnny Winter and Rick Derringer in this Henry’s lead guitar work.

Openers Hill Country Revue offered a new take on traditional folk and blues from Coldwater, Miss. They were like the Allman Brothers and Johnny Winter wrapped into one, and the rocking-ist band I’ve seen in quite a while. The big guy on bass (Chris Chew) is lots of fun to watch with all his extreme facial expressions. He is huge — tall and around, and wears his guitar way high.”

The answer to the song HOW FAR IS HEAVEN is only from the Truth of Jesus in the Bible (Acts of The Apostles) which is really (Acts of God with The Apostles) Acts 7:54 Since St Stephen was on the ground and from there saw Jesus standing on the right hand of God the Father as heaven was opened How Far Is It? Not far at all is the true answer.

This show absolutely rocked! I am amazed at how relatively unknown LLB still is. They are amazing. Hill Country Revue was a great surprise. I had never heard of them before and was expecting a country band. I was wrong! I look forward to checking them out again at the Fox in January.

what a great show for both bands. However, the Hill Country Revue band was an unbelievable surprise to me. That guy who played guitar was one of the best guitar players I have ever heard. I thought LLBs had great guitar, until I heard the Hill Country Revue. I never heard these guys before but I will definitely come back in Jan and I cant wait!
