The Avett Brothers @ the Strings Music Pavilion

The Avett Brothers brought a sitting crowd to its feet at Steamboat’s lovely Strings Music Pavilion. Photos, slideshow and video by John Moore.
Some kids follow Widespread Panic around the country. I follow the Avett Brothers across this fair land.
After seeing them play in Telluride (twice); Denver; Asheville, N.C. (twice); Solana Beach, Calif.; Los Angeles; Anaheim; and Seattle (twice), I talked some friends into making the road trip to Steamboat Springs to see the band play the stunning Strings Music Pavilion a few weeks ago.

Octopus Project @ the Hi-Dive

Sharp-dressed, those Octopus Project kids are.
Last week in Denver we had a large gathering of white elitists with expensive, perfectly styled haircuts whose rhetoric was almost as generic as their sense of style. It wasn’t the Democratic National Convention. It was the Octopus Project performing at the Hi-Dive on Aug. 26.
Before the keynote speakers took the stage, there were the usual anonymous openers. Matt Larabee Band played the part of Chicago City Clerk Miguel del Valle. No one has ever heard of him and nobody [...]

Reverb contributor Julio Enriquez checks in with this report from the Outside Lands Festival, which took place at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park Aug. 22-24.
– Day 1 –
The uncomfortable feeling you have when your get your shoes wet upon arriving at a campsite was much like my first day at the very cold, very foggy Outside Lands Festival. I spent the first day trying to acclimate to the elements. We [...]

The Allman Brothers Band, Ratdog @ Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Saturday was a night of searing guitars at Red Rocks as the Allman Brothers Band joined Bob Weir’s Ratdog in a colossal explosion of memorable jamming. Photo by Jason Blevins. Additional photos by Nathan D. Rist.
For those not fond of lengthy guitar jams — some tunes featured multiple frothing meanderings by ABB’s Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks — it was not a good night. For those who enjoy such six-string journeying, it was Nirvana.
Former Grateful Dead frontman Weir tried to set the [...]
