Hi. I am only 12 but i know good music when i hear it. I love the Flobots and think that they give a good messsage. I meet Stefan and some of thye other band members when my Sister was in Ambassadors and they seemed like good people. with there music they say things that we are not saying. I would love to see them in a concert and to see if thay remember a shy little girl almost as tall as her sister. thank you

the flobots wouldn't judge based upon a certain company, logo, or label. if anything they want to bring them all together. but in the video shoot they didn't want to deal with the licensing for everybody's shirts so they made a rule against it. i had the privilege of attending the shoot and it was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. they stand for something really really important that a lot of people need to start understanding more of.

The corporate logo thing is not a political stance it is an industry standard. If a logo shows up in a video on national television, like say someone wearing an Abercrombie and Fitch shirt and it hasn't been cleared, then it opens up a whole mess of legal issues. There are instances where a corporation could demand money claiming that the video was using their product to make the video more marketable. Some companies don't care and rely on such scattershot product placement like Nike and Puma, but not all of them do. The video had nearly one thousand people there, if the logo requirement hadn't been given the whole budget could have been blown on legal issues alone.

LCD - Yawn. People have been shouting off that same soapbox about The Clash and Rage Against Machine (and dozens of others) for years. It's tired and broken. Unless we're talking about a band like Fugazi or Crass that take remarkable, almost superhuman, pains to avoid coming into contact with the mainstream, you're going to have to accept that compromises are a necessary part of the business. I have no idea what Flobots' contract with Universal is like, but so long as they stay true to their ideals, I think the increased attention they get with a major-label deal is worth the sacrifice. Now if they start using Flobots songs at the Republican National Convention or to sell the new Cadillac SUV, that's a whole other thing entirely.

On a side note, I also fail to see how using hairspray has anything to do with your argument at all.

Maybe it's Just me... But, am I the only one that seems to find it ironic that a band preaching "anti-corporate" signed to universal? one of the biggest labels in the country....
on top of that they played the Jay Leno show... on top of that they request: no clothing with “corporate brand names or logos.”

what about the universal records stamp on their records...is that not corporate?
a record which was previously self-released and receiving critical acclaim previous to their album deal.
I have no problem with any of them as people. Or, even making money from art. However I find that their new found success is somewhat counterproductive to the "activist" Ideals they preach.

Come on, there is even a photo of the drummer with someone approaching him with a can of hairspray.
activists or sellouts?
