Achille Lauro @ the Larimer Lounge

Taking the stage with decidedly aquatic-themed homemade costumes, Denver band Achile Lauro played the Larimer Lounge on Friday to celebrate the release of their new (and first full-length) CD, with help from Widowers and Mothership.

The show was not, as rumored, the band’s last, but rather the last one for a month while its members take a break and tend to jobs, “sleep and reflection,” according to a MySpace blog. Reverb contributing photographer Brian Carney was there to catch all the action. Check out his photo essay below.

The show was awesome, but they lived-up to what I had heard, which was that they start-off with such a bang that the rest of the show becomes a bit of a lull. None-the-less, they are one of Denver’s great bands on the rise. Of course, the theme-show idea is right up my alley. I only wish my sailor suit hadn’t been at the washers that night.
